He survived. And his thoughts are with the victims of the road. Yesterday afternoon, Regional Councilor for Public Works Antonio Piu was injured in a head-on collision between the car he was traveling in—he was in the passenger seat—and another vehicle on the Olbia-Arzachena highway, while returning from an inauguration in La Maddalena.

He suffered minor chest trauma and, fortunately, none of the people involved are in serious condition.

Today, Piu said, "It was a difficult night. Torn between the pain of the physical trauma and the concern for those who shared this ordeal with me. We were lucky, in some ways. Because these accidents can have much worse outcomes."

Piu adds that he's been "inundated with thoughts and messages, and this makes me happy and grateful. It was a difficult time, but so many people made it less painful. Today, with a cool head, my thoughts go out to all the victims of the road. To all those who weren't lucky."
