State Road 128 north of Trexenta is proving safer . Road surface work has been completed on the stretch of road after the level crossing between Suelli and Gesico , towards Mandas. These interventions have been repeatedly requested by local municipal administrations. "In recent days, together with fellow mayors Terenzio Schirru of Gesico and Damiano Aresu of Pimentel, we held a meeting with the regional manager of Anas Sardinia, Salvo Campione, which served to share a series of issues and solutions to the traffic problems in our area," says Mandas Mayor Umberto Oppus.
The first responses were not long in coming: the project to secure the stretch of road damaged by landslides and mudslides caused by the flooding of April 27th has been awarded. "In the coming days, I will meet with the planners to jointly define the necessary interventions," concludes Oppus. Discussions are also underway (two meetings are scheduled for the near future) to examine the situation of State Road 198 up to Seui and State Road 128 from Mandas towards Isili, Nurallao, Laconi, and Sorgono.
Anas has also begun discussions with the Region in preparation for finally awarding a contract for the second section of State Road 128 between the Suelli-Seuni roundabout and the Mandas area, for which nearly €20 million is available. Investments to make the Centrale Sarda (the ancient route, dating back to 1832), as the important link that bisects the Province of Cagliari, safer and faster (the route is known, dating back to 1832), are also crucial in combating the depopulation of the area's small towns.
