At the dawn of a weekend that has just begun, Quartu finds himself mourning two broken young lives.

At 3.45 last night the dreams, hopes and projects of Thomas Frau and Federico Cubeddu, both 19 years old , crashed into a Maserati in Cagliari, in via Vesalio.

Frau died instantly, Cubeddu a few hours later at the Brotzu hospital, where he had been transported by 118 in desperate conditions . They never returned to their homes, and two phone calls destroyed the lives of as many families, who also had to face the terrible but necessary step of recognizing the bodies. Cubeddu would have turned 20 on February 4th, Frau, who was driving the car, at the end of August

Many messages of condolence on social media for the two young people, the mayor Graziano Milia expressed the pain of an entire heartbroken city: «What happened to these boys is a drama that brings to mind the disappearance of the four young people in accident on Viale Marconi a few months ago . I believe there is a problem of road safety driving education and this is what we need to work hard on. I send an affectionate hug to the families who are facing great and inconceivable pain."

The 18-year-old who was in the boys' Peugeot 207 and the 44-year-old who was driving the Maserati were injured but out of danger .
