A complaint to the Sassari Public Prosecutor's Office with the request for the acquisition of the medical records and autopsy. The family of Giovanna Satta , the 25-year-old woman from Padru who died on Monday night at the San Pietro University Clinics in Sassari during an emergency caesarean section , asks for clarity. Alongside the pain that hit the young woman's mother, father and husband, there is the need to understand what happened in the hours before the tragedy . Giovanna, in her third pregnancy after two caesareans and with a serious complication, was hospitalized in the Obstetrics and Gynecology ward since Saturday. The woman remained in contact with the family until shortly before entering the operating room and, as reported in the complaint, she made a video call to her husband Stefano in which she says she was very ill. The situation must have precipitated within a very short time and it is on this time frame that the lawyers appointed by the family, Giampaolo Murrighile and Donatella Arru, want to try to shed some light.

The Aou

The Sassari hospital has also started an internal investigation with the request for an autopsy examination in self-defense requested by the doctor who performed the surgery. "The girl was subjected to an emergency cesarean, which in these cases is expected since it is a high-risk condition for the mother and the unborn child - explained the medical director of the Aou, Luigi Cugia - and after the cesarean the patient had repeated cardiac arrests and the resuscitator anesthetist did his utmost but unfortunately was unable to prevent the patient's death ». The operation was instead successful for the newborn, who came to light premature but stable and under observation in the neonatal intensive care unit . «A clinical audit has been activated - explains Cugia - to understand and verify all the procedures that have been implemented. We must be analytical, give explanations to the family, to which we are close, and to the whole community. All the necessary examinations and verifications will be made ».

Country in shock

Meanwhile, Padru has tightened around family members and everyone's thoughts at this moment go to little Silvia and the other two daughters of the couple, 3 and a year and a half. "It is a mourning that affects the whole community - commented the parish priest, Fr Michele Vincis - there is a great desire for collaboration and closeness to help and also our bishop, Fr Corrado Melis, called me to contribute as Diocese, both spiritually and materially ».
