Castiadas, Caretta caretta nest at Cala Sinzias: the site has been located and fenced off.

A natural spectacle has taken place in the last few hours at Cala Sinzias, on the Castiadas seafront , opposite Garden Beach, where first tracks of the Caretta caretta turtle were spotted heading towards the sea, then three turtles reached the water.

The nest was immediately located on the sand, where several other eggs are presumed to have been laid . "We immediately contacted the Villasimius Marine Protected Area," said Pierpalo Piu, director of the Hotel Garden Beach Cala Sinzias . "Researcher Nicoletta Cadoni, the Forestry Corps, and the local police arrived immediately. The area that should be home to the other Caretta caretta eggs has been adequately fenced off while awaiting their hatching. A miracle of nature that recurs in our splendid sea of Cala Sinzias, to the delight of swimmers and tourists who still," adds Piu, "throng the coast. The area is obviously protected and monitored with the necessary care. All that remains is to wait for the new eggs to hatch."

In the past there have already been several Caretta caretta nests on the beaches of Sarrabus, at Costa Rei, Piscina Rei, Cala Sinzias, Villasimius and at Geremeas on the Maracalagonis coast.
