The heatwave and resulting drought that is weakening Gallura isn't sparing even the mouflons living in Golfo Aranci. Last night, the protected animals living on Capo Figari descended from the promontory into the village to try to drink. Spotted and photographed by several residents, the wild sheep were wandering among the houses in search of water, even feeding on the plants displayed in front of the doors. The watering holes on Capo Figari, set up by the Province after a devastating fire in 2013, are inadequate to meet the mouflons' needs (and too deep for the small animals), and the only suitable one was emptied by the owners of a camper van to refill their tank. The Golfo Aranci barracellare association was alerted, and the watering hole was refilled this afternoon and is being monitored by volunteers who have always been concerned about the health of the many protected species living in Golfo Aranci.
