In the very early hours of the morning, the Carabinieri of the Dolianova operational and radiomobile unit arrested in Monastir a 27-year-old unemployed man , resident in Medio Campidano and already known to the police, on charges of possession of narcotics for the purpose of dealing, resisting a public official and damage.

During routine checks along the SS 131 , the military noticed a Fiat Panda proceeding at an abnormal speed . Suspicious of the driver's driving attitude, they decided to proceed with his identification, ordering him to stop. At first, the man made a move to slow down, pretending to comply with the check, only to then accelerate abruptly and attempt to escape in the direction of the SP7 junction, towards Villasor.

A chase ensued along a farm road, with the young man also hitting the police car. The escape ended shortly after, when one of the car's tires gave way, causing the Fiat Panda to crash into the police vehicle.

Stopped and searched, the man was found in possession of a block and a vacuum-packed package containing cocaine, for a total weight of more than a kilo , in addition to 130 euros in cash , believed to be the proceeds of the illegal activity. All the material was seized.

The Judicial Authority, informed by the Carabinieri, ordered the precautionary detention in prison. Investigations are continuing to ascertain the origin of the narcotic substance and the possible involvement of other subjects in the drug dealing chain.
