Massive brawl between guests of the Monastir reception center. All over a scooter and, perhaps, personal disagreements.

There was a massive intervention by the police forces yesterday evening, around 10.45pm, outside the CAS: the night was illuminated by the flashing lights of the patrols of the Carabinieri stations of Dolianova and Siurgus Donigala, of the Radiomobile of the Dolianova company and of three police cars.

The intervention was triggered by the report of an ongoing assault inside the facility. Once on site, the operators confirmed that the violence had already taken place, but outside.

A 19-year-old Tunisian guest of the center, while returning to the CAS on his scooter, was surrounded by a small group of Pakistanis and Afghans near the go-kart track who, armed with sticks, repeatedly hit him and then disappeared after taking possession of the scooter.

Two compatriots and a 24-year-old Afghan citizen, also a guest of the facility, intervened to defend the young man and helped him take shelter inside the center, but were caught up in the fight.

The 118 emergency workers then arrived on site and transported the Tunisian to Brotzu and the Afghan to Santissima Trinità to treat some of their wounds.

The first investigative hypotheses suggest that the attackers and the victim knew each other and that the motive for the attack could be traced back to personal disagreements and tensions that had built up over time.

The Carabinieri of the Monastir station, with the support of the other departments that intervened, started immediate investigations to identify the perpetrators and recover the scooter.
