The restoration of the Bocci Ois di Mandas roadhouse has been completed. Five years after the fire that severely damaged it, roadhouse number 46 has been returned to its former glory. "We have handed over to the community a completely renovated building that represents an asset that defines our area," says Mayor Umberto Oppus.
The building, of great historical and landscape significance, will now be used by local tourism operators with the aim of transforming it into a hub for rail tourism in the area. The roadhouse, linked to the historic Sardinian railway network and Mandas' role as a hub for the Trenino Verde (Little Green Train), represents a symbol of local memory and past mobility. The renovation involved both the structure and the outdoor spaces, restoring the property to its original characteristics while simultaneously making it suitable for new activities related to hospitality and the promotion of the area. "The Bocci Ois roadhouse is poised to become a strategic hub for sustainable tourism development, capable of offering new opportunities for the local economy," concludes Oppus.
