On Via Scalas , in the town of Mandas , a wall of a private residence collapsed . The incident occurred following the persistent and heavy rains that have been affecting the area for days , which have compromised the stability of the structure.
The intervention of the Fire Brigade was necessary to secure the area.
Mayor Umberto Oppus, as a precaution, signed the ordinance closing the road to traffic . "Fortunately, no injuries were reported to people or property, but given that we've reported collapses in at least four private properties, I will do everything I can to prevent more serious situations," the mayor emphasized.
In recent days, severe weather in the center of the upper Trexenta area also caused the collapse of the clock in the church of Santa Vitalia , the town's co-patron saint. Fortunately, the accident did not cause any damage or injury because the fall occurred inside, not outside, the church, which is closed to the faithful due to a mayoral order issued specifically because of the adverse weather conditions.
Meanwhile, inspections continue in the countryside, primarily to assess the condition of waterways. In particular, significant amounts of waste were found in the Rio Borta and in the Gannadra area. Several local farms have suffered significant losses due to storm damage and power outages, also caused by the adverse weather conditions of recent days.
Inspections will be completed in the next few days to assess the damage to internal and external roads.
