Around 150 young people, 1/3 of whom were women, took the oath yesterday morning, in Piazza Umberto I, after having attended the basic training course at the Non-Commissioned Officers School of La Maddalena, upon completion of which they will be started on the specialization processes foreseen for the categories they belong to (Bowlers, Engine Technicians, Port Boatsmen).

A ceremony which saw the presence of a large audience, largely made up of a large number of family members of the jurands, who came to participate in this important moment in the military career of their children, girlfriends or boyfriends, brothers or sisters.

The solemn oath formula was read by the commander of the school, captain of the vessel, Simone Battisti. Rear Admiral Marco Montoneri presided over the ceremony. Words of good wishes were expressed by the mayor Fabio Lai, also a military professional. The Livorno Naval Academy Fanfare was present and had held a concert in the same square the day before, while due to bad weather the Magnaghi ship was unable to be present at the dock.

The Non-Commissioned Officers School of La Maddalena has around 200 permanent military personnel and around 90 civilian employees and workers, and in 2023 it has already hosted several hundred students, for a total of around sixty courses taught.
