"I didn't want to go to the hospital, I had nothing. And they wanted to put a catheter in me": this was the explanation given to the judge by the attacker of the nurse at the emergency room in Olbia.

The man, 32, of Tunisian nationality, said in court that he reacted because he had been taken to the hospital, in fact, against his will. Furthermore, the patient said that he had lost control because, in his opinion, he did not like the maneuvers necessary to insert the catheter. According to the charge of the summary trial, the man arrived at the hospital in a very altered state, perhaps due to drug and alcohol use. The judge ordered the Tunisian citizen (assisted by the lawyer Maria Caterina Pisano) to sign in.

The solidarity of the ASL

And a few hours after the attack on the nurse at the Olbia Emergency Room (who was violently kicked in the back), the ASL intervenes, expressing solidarity with the victims. The note from the general management: «The ASL Gallura expresses solidarity with the operators attacked in recent days and with all the staff at the Olbia Emergency Room. The health workers do an admirable job, with dedication and professionalism. Episodes like this are intolerable and represent an act of serious incivility. Those who work to treat and assist citizens must be able to work in peace, without risking becoming the victim of violent acts that make no sense. The nurses will soon be summoned to the Management so that they can directly express a sign of solidarity on the part of the Company».
