The CTM network in Capoterra isn't yet a reality, but for the first time, the political and administrative process to bring the metropolitan consortium's buses to the city has taken a concrete step. The Regional Council has approved the motion committing the Regional Council to extending local urban public transport service to six municipalities currently excluded from the CTM network: Capoterra, Maracalagonis, Sestu, Settimo San Pietro, Sinnai, and Uta.

For Capoterra, this is the result of a request that has gained widespread support in recent months. Last November, the City Council unanimously approved a motion presented by Democratic Party group leader Efisio De Muru , calling on the Region and the Metropolitan City to initiate discussions regarding the arrival of the CTM. Mayor Beniamino Garau then initiated discussions with the company, emphasizing the need to improve connections with Cagliari and offer a more widespread alternative to the currently available service.

The issue now enters into regional planning. The service contract between the Region and CTM is set to expire on December 31, 2026, and services and mileage will need to be defined precisely in preparation for the new contract.

Mayor Beniamino Garau explains how the arrival of the CTM vehicles will help shorten the distance between Capoterra and the main town: "The journey is still long, and there will be further steps to take. We will follow them carefully, step by step, until the end. We have chosen to work without considering party lines, putting one thing at the center: the interests of our community. The upgrade of public transportation in Capoterra will also provide an important service to the Macchiareddu industrial area; thousands of workers will finally be able to count on public transportation that will supplement that already provided by the ARS ."

From the minority benches, Democratic Party group leader Efisio De Muru recalls how the idea of bringing the CTM to Capoterra has been around for a long time: "A year ago, the presentation of a motion to the City Council, with the immediate support of Mayor Garau and the entire chamber, set the primary objective: bringing the CTM to Capoterra. Today, a new motion, presented by all the center-left group leaders and approved by the Regional Council, formally opens the way to expanding the public transportation service. The next step will be the redefinition of services and mileage for the new local public transportation, which could give the political green light to the arrival of buses on the streets of Capoterra."
