A large fire broke out this afternoon in the municipality of Samugheo , in the "Perdi Scheddazzu" area. In an attempt to put it out, the Forestry Corps deployed three aircraft from the regional fleet : a light helicopter and a Superpuma—both taking off from the Fenosu helicopter base—supported by a third helicopter from the Sorgono base.

Given the severity of the fire, it was subsequently necessary to intervene with a Canadair (Can14) from the national fleet, as well as two other helicopters: another Superpuma, which took off from the Alà dei Sardi base, and a vehicle from San Cosimo.

To counter the advance of the flames, the GAUF (Fire Analysis and Use Group) of Oristano, the specialized unit of the Forestry Corps that applies advanced techniques and counterfire to contain the most difficult fires, also took to the field.

Today turned out to be a very busy day for the Forestry Corps, which had already been working on five other fires.
