Incredible discovery in Assemini, in the house of one of the two men arrested for the robbery at the Sestu betting centre .
The Carabinieri, as part of the investigation to identify the third accomplice of the robbery, found two votive swords from the Nuragic era in the home of one of the two arrested. A discovery of great historical importance, the swords in fact date back to a period between the 12th and 9th centuries BC .
The discovery was immediately reported to the experts of the Superintendency of the Metropolitan City of Cagliari and of the provinces of Oristano and South Sardinia, as well as to the Carabinieri of the Cultural Heritage Protection Unit of Cagliari.
Experts have confirmed the historical importance of the two swords and their belonging to the Nuragic civilization. The artefacts were used for ritual purposes. In the Recent Bronze Age (1,350-1,150 BC) votive swords were often placed in sanctuaries and giants' tombs, as part of a cult linked to the celebration of weapons and ancestors .
Given their important historical and archaeological value, the swords will be analyzed in more detail and preserved in a suitable environment.
The alleged robber was therefore also reported at large for receiving stolen cultural goods . And for possession of narcotics for the purpose of dealing, given that 56 grams of marijuana were also found in the house.
