In Uta there is a lack of specialist doctors and nurses. But also drugs, so much so that «the search for the latter has been extended to hospitals». This is underlined by Maria Grazia Caligaris, president of the association Socialismo Diritti Riforme ODV , in reference to the situation in the Cagliari-Uta prison , where « prison health continues to register serious deficiencies ».

Caligaris also highlights that «it is essential to review the organization for better management of health in prison, which today is left too much to the personal sensitivity of individual medical workers, nurses and OSS».

"The relatives of the detainees - he observes - follow with trepidation the evolution of the therapeutic path of their relatives which, without the necessary pharmaceutical support, risks throwing into despair not only those who have lost their freedom but the entire system that underlies social recovery . Health workers, like legal-pedagogical officials and agents, can operate only if the rights of the people are respected, otherwise there is the risk that the balances will be upset".
