The Ministry of the Environment has given the go-ahead for funding of almost 19 million euros (in detail 18,981,000 euros) for the implementation of five interventions considered a priority for the mitigation of hydrogeological risk on the island.

The funds will go to the Municipalities of Bitti, Villaputzu, Valledoria, Siniscola and Aglientu .

«The planning and implementation of interventions for the prevention and contrast of hydrogeological risk continue in Sardinia with the utmost commitment and with the use of every available resource. Suffice it to say that in the Finance Act, currently under discussion, we have provided, on this front, resources for 149 million euros over the three -year period, for the design and construction of works to mitigate the risk of hydrogeological instability», explains the president of the Sardinia Region, Christian Solinas , Government Commissioner for the fight against hydrogeological instability.

"The protection and safety of the territory remains a priority for us", underlines the regional councilor for public works, Pierluigi Saiu.

«In detail - adds Saiu - an important part of the funding, 10,956,000 euros, is intended for Bitti and in particular for lots 3 and 5 of the works on the Cuccureddu and Podda rivers, for the safety of the inhabited centre. Among the other planned interventions we find the safety of the lower Coghinas valley, in the Valledoria area (4,350,000 euros for the construction of lot 3), the works for the bridge of the former state road 125, in Villaputzu (1,800. 000 euros), the construction of the embankment and bank defense works of the Rio Siniscola (in the Siniscola area, for 1,525,000 euros) and the construction of the spillway channel for the safety of the town of Vignola Mare, in Aglientu ( 350 thousand euros). Today - concludes the councilor - we are adding an important piece that fits within a larger number of actions and interventions in the field for the protection of our territory and its wealth".
