Sixteen years in a row under the Blue Flag banner. Torre Grande has once again received one of the most prestigious awards for seaside resorts for 2026, confirming the high environmental standards and quality of services offered along the Oristano coast.

The flag was raised this morning in the garden of the seaside village's central square, at the foot of the Spanish Tower , during the traditional flag-raising ceremony. In attendance were Oristano Mayor Massimiliano Sanna, Environment Councilor Maria Bonaria Zedda, and Port Authority Commander Andrea Chirizzi.

The award was received last month in Rome and allows Torre Grande to reach the milestone of its sixteenth consecutive Blue Flag . Since 2011, the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) recognition has certified the quality of bathing waters and the work carried out by the municipal administration in environmental protection, safety, and the improvement of services for residents and tourists.

In 2026, 257 Italian coastal municipalities will receive the Blue Flag, for a total of 525 beaches. Sardinia is also growing, with 17 recognized locations. The award is given based on rigorous international parameters that evaluate, among other aspects, water quality, sustainable land management, beach accessibility, waste separation, wastewater treatment, safety, and environmental education initiatives.
