Fire devastates the countryside of Decimoputzu

A large fire broke out in the countryside in the northern area of Decimoputzu.

The flames started around 2 pm and, driven by the wind, spread over a front of several kilometres, threatening greenhouses and other businesses.

The fire is raging in the area of Sa Fraighedda and the old mushroom farm, which had already been destroyed by a blaze a few years ago.

Two helicopters from the regional fire-fighting apparatus are working on site, plus a third that took off from the Decimomannu Air Force base.

Firefighters and teams from the Forestry and Forestas departments are operating on the ground, as well as volunteers from the Civil Protection.
