The President of the Region Christian Solinas was heard in Tempio, in the Prosecutor's Office, on the alleged delays in the reclamation operations of the former Arsenal of La Maddalena.

The investigation concerns the failure to remediate the seabed of the Carbone pier, Cala Camicia and Cala Camiciotto.

The name of the Sardinian exponent has been entered in the register of suspects of the Gallura Prosecutor's Office for the crime of pollution , i.e. for the continuing situation of contamination of the body of water of the former Arsenale.

Solinas, assisted by the lawyer Toto Casula (who did not want to make a statement), was heard on Monday afternoon and would have answered all the investigators' questions.

The President of the Region (called into question as commissioner in charge of the intervention) immediately made himself available to the magistrates and Coast Guard personnel. The head of cabinet, Quirico Sanna, had already been interviewed at length as a person informed on the facts.

It all starts with the ouster, by the Municipality of La Maddalena, of the consortium of companies that had won the first tender for the redevelopment.

The reclamation issue, in reality, has already been at the center of a trial, celebrated in Tempio and Rome. We are talking about the file that contested the fraud against the State against 13 people for the funds spent in La Maddalena (after the G8 was stolen from the island) without any intervention to restore the body of water.

The prescription canceled everything, first in Tempio and then in Rome. There is talk of very heavy damage suffered by the people of Maddalena and all Sardinians.

Seventy million euros were spent in 2009 with this result: the bluff reclamation, according to the expert reports in the documents, caused an expansion of the polluted stretch of sea. Senior state leaders and entrepreneurs were all acquitted due to the statute of limitations at the end of a "ghost" trial which in turn was the subject of a ministerial investigation.

A very serious affair, in some ways even the President of the Region is now a victim of it. Solinas and Sanna declined to comment.
