Silent (no shooting allowed) and accessible only by sea, the loggerhead sea turtle (caretta caretta) came from there, laying its eggs in the sand of Cala Zafferano, within the Capo Teulada military range.

Mayor Angelo Milia announced the first step in a (hopefully) happy event, dating back to the night of August 15th, after receiving the communication from the commander of the first regiment, which manages the military area.

"The site was identified and reported by the Nora Marine Turtle Recovery Centre," explains the mayor, "which will monitor it until the hatching, expected in about 40-60 days."

This is good news "that reminds us how precious and fragile our ecosystem is," Milia emphasizes, referring to a beach near which tanks pass in winter. He then urges: "All those sailing along the coast," he says, "to respect the sea and its creatures, avoiding any form of disturbance."
