Drug cultivation and trafficking, mafia infiltration, the situation in the Nuoro prison and the alarm raised by the Monte Nuovo investigation , which a few weeks ago brought to light an alleged association with connections between local crime and institutions.

All interconnected issues that worry the Nuorese quite a bit, today at the center of a summit convened by the prefect Giancarlo Dionisi .

The meeting in the prefecture was attended by the local police forces, the prosecutor of the Republic of Cagliari and coordinator of the Sardinian DDA Rodolfo Sabelli , the general prosecutor of Cagliari Luigi Patronaggio , the deputy prosecutor of Nuoro Andrea Ghironi and the director of the prison of Badu 'e Carros Patrizia Incollu .

At the moment, said the prefect, there is no mafia alarm in the Nuoro area , "if we mean by mafia-style organized crime that criminal phenomenon that controls the local economy and influences the decisions of institutional bodies".

Dionisi, however, asked for a " strengthening of controls " both inside the Badu 'e Carros prison, where several mafia bosses are detained, and outside , "to guarantee tranquility and well-being of the territory". And he urged an "intensification of collaboration between the police force and the judiciary".

There was also talk of the problems in Badu 'e Carros and the sensational escape of the Apulian boss Marco Raduano: «We cannot go into the specifics of the investigations that are underway but we can say that the issues are all at the center of attention and there will be specific interventions ", announced Sabelli.

" Maximum attention must be paid to possible pollution of the territory with strategies to combat the most profitable criminal phenomena, such as drug trafficking, which risk creating a dangerous connection between Sardinian crime and mafia-type organisations", the words of Patronaggio.

The police commissioner of Nuoro Alfonso Polverino instead focused on the problem of drug cultivation and trafficking, a very flourishing and profitable activity in the area: «We asked to have univocal legislation in the various public prosecutor's offices in which we find ourselves operating, especially with regards indica and sativa hemp, for which the regulation leaves wide-ranging rules."
