She allegedly used a fake law enforcement identity to obtain gold jewelry worth €25,000. A 30-year-old woman living in Lazio was arrested by the Carabinieri for aggravated extortion.

The woman operated between Olbia and Torpè; the victims were two elderly women. The investigation by the Ghilarza police, along with their colleagues from Oristano, Siniscola, and Olbia, began following a report of an incident in Torpè : an elderly woman had been contacted by telephone by a self-styled police inspector who had falsely suggested that her granddaughter would be arrested for being responsible for a serious traffic accident.

Taking advantage of the elderly woman's state of great apprehension, the fake inspector had convinced her to hand over all the gold jewellery to a member of the police force who would show up at her house .

The real Carabinieri managed to identify the perpetrator of the hoax: they found her in possession of a bag containing numerous gold jewelry recently stolen from the elderly woman from Torpè. The woman was in possession of a fake police badge and other jewelry linked to another incident.
