From a disused preschool to a community space open to meetings, associations, and consultations. A new center for social interaction and health has opened on Via Fermi in the Amsicora neighborhood of Cagliari.

A multifunctional intergenerational space, dedicated to socio-educational, recreational and well-being activities for residents, with particular attention to self-sufficient elderly people and children between 3 and 5 years old.

"With this new opening," Mayor Massimo Zedda emphasizes, "we are continuing our work of redeveloping municipal spaces and enhancing public assets: after the Sant'Elia neighborhood center, which also houses the neighborhood's missing clinic, and the redevelopment of several buildings for social purposes, such as the space on Via Friuli, to name two, we are moving forward with the establishment of innovative services for citizens. The goal is to foster opportunities for meeting, socializing, well-being, and health for all."

"The main goal of this new center," explains Anna Puddu, Councilor for Health and Citizen Well-being, "is to promote cohesion and interaction between different generations. We believe this approach is a useful and effective tool, especially considering the city's demographic trends, to strengthen community unity, promote widespread well-being, and combat social isolation."

Featuring a shaded garden equipped with games and seating, fully accessible and with several rooms inside, the space will house a daytime socio-educational center for seniors, designed to combat social isolation among self-sufficient seniors through recreational and wellness activities. A neighborhood center, a play and development space for children aged 3 to 5, is also available, designed as a socio-educational space and useful for promoting work-life balance among families. Spaces are also available for municipal councils: equipped, shared spaces provide a suitable venue for meetings, logistical support, and visibility for initiatives. There will also be space for committees and non-profit organizations: the Amsicora neighborhood committee—one of the promoters of the request for the space—and the Council of Associations of People with Disabilities have already found a home.
