Brain death has been declared for Marco Meloni, the 21-year-old from Decimomannu who entered a coma following an asthma attack that left his brain deprived of oxygen for about 10 minutes, leading him to a state of deep unconsciousness. The young man had been admitted to intensive care at Brotzu: he was not responding to stimuli and his clinical picture had been "desperate" from the start.

The drama began on Sunday morning: Marco Meloni was at his aunt's house in San Sperate when he was struck by a crisis of the illness that had accompanied him since he was a child.

It didn't help that Marco had the “My Asthma” application installed on his cell phone, which allows you to track and manage your asthma, monitor air temperature, pollution and pollen levels, as well as record attacks and symptoms with data and the use of inhalers.

He was immediately taken to the hospital, after an injection of adrenaline. Unfortunately, the doctors' efforts were not enough to save his life.
