Cagliari, the police budget: 12 thousand kg of drugs and 300 arrests in one year

In the last 12 months, the Cagliari State Police has seized 12 thousand kilos of drugs and arrested 300 people. A balance that is released in conjunction with the 170th anniversary of the foundation of the Corps.
From March to today, however, the agents are also operational for another emergency, that of the management of practices for the release of international protection for about a thousand Ukrainian citizens. "The numbers in general - said the commissioner Paolo Rossi - do not say everything, but we are talking about a relatively calm situation: we are working to make people perceive safety more and more. The more we are present, the more citizens feel at ease. For example, for the management of Covid we did not adopt sanctioning behaviors, but accompanying compliance with the rules ".
In the last year, there have been 2,422 security services for small and large events, about 15 percent more than in the past. Three hundred and twelve concerned sporting events, including the question of the match between Cagliari and Naples , with the arrest of three people and the denunciation of eight. "It is the only case - underlined Rossi - in which there was some problem: for the rest, all the events, including very delicate protests, took place quietly and democratically".
Over 220 thousand people identified, almost 6,500 vehicles checked. And then the monitoring of a hundred or so landings of 1272 migrants, almost entirely Algerians.
5 thousand infringements of the highway code, with 509 excesses of speed and 98 drunk driving.
While as regards the fight against drugs, drug dealing decreased by 23%. As regards the phenomenon of telematic scams, the amount recorded is approximately 350 thousand euros.
During the 170th anniversary party, scheduled for tomorrow, two policemen who tried to save a person who set himself on fire will be rewarded. One of them was injured by the flames. "But after eight months - said the commissioner - he is back with us at work". Managed well, explained the commissioner, also the no vax phenomenon: "In 50 demonstrations no problem".
