Until last year, she was present on the pilgrimage to Lourdes, with the Oftal, wearing the classic ladies' uniform. Rina Zizi died yesterday in Olbia, surrounded by the love of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was the wife of Vittorio Maccioni, mayor of Orune from 1960 to 1965.

She was 104 years old, a former teacher, originally from Orune, who had lived in Olbia for years, where she had always been involved in volunteer work, as a lady of Oftal, the association that brings together disabled and sick people from all over the island, on pilgrimages to Lourdes.

A friend of Antonio Pigliaru, with whom she was a schoolmate, Rina Zizi spent her life close to the suffering and the weakest.

She was a veteran of Oftal and, in her later years, was always present at the pleggerings, even though she was no longer strong, forced to walk in processions in a wheelchair. However, she was lucid and happily recounted her past. "With our friend Rina, a piece of our association's history is gone," says Oftal regional president Tore Acca. "She has always been an example for so many women and for all of us. Have a good journey."
