Food products collected during the Christmas period for the village's poor were never delivered . The accusation, leveled against the Municipality of Cabras, comes from minority councilor Antonello Manca , who submitted a question yesterday.
"I am publicly addressing the mayor of Cabras and the councilor for social services, Laura Celletti, to request immediate clarification on a specific and well-defined situation regarding the management of food products collected during the Christmas period," Manca commented. "It is known that some of the goods collected as a gesture of support to families in need were duly donated. However, it appears that numerous pallets of food products, particularly milk, with an expiration date set for February, are still unavailable . We are not talking about belated solidarity or abstract political considerations, but about very specific products, physically present, stacked, and close to their expiration date, which could and should have been distributed promptly to those in genuine need."
In his question, Manca asks why some pallets of milk have not yet been donated, despite the imminent expiration date, whether all those truly in need have actually been reached, and whether the company is waiting for these products to expire, thus risking unacceptable waste.
"The action taken by the large companies that collaborated cannot and must not be undermined by a clear inability to manage essential goods ," the councilor said. "I therefore ask the City Council to explain who makes the decisions regarding these goods, what choices have been made to date, and, above all, what immediate actions they intend to implement to prevent usable food products from being wasted. Citizens have the right to clear, transparent, and timely answers." These answers will be provided during the next City Council meeting.
