Porto Cervo, hit and killed by a van while working in front of his house

Mowed down by a van while he was working on the side of the road, in front of his home.

This is how Tonino Pirastru, 76 years old, died this morning in an accident on provincial road 59, which connects the center of Arzachena with Porto Cervo. The victim was installing bollards in the street at the time.

According to initial information, the driver, perhaps to avoid an animal that crossed the road, lost control of the vehicle. The van ended up in the other lane, overwhelming the seventy-six-year-old and dragging him for tens of metres. The elderly man died instantly and remained under the vehicle until help arrived.

In addition to the 118 operators, Olbia traffic police officers and firefighters intervened on site.
