After months of investigation, the 54-year-old Serramanna man accused of carrying out two armed robberies in Villasor has escaped prison. The incidents date back to last February : the unemployed man was issued a pre-trial detention order this morning by the Cagliari investigating judge.

The two robberies were carried out on February 11 , when within a few hours, two tobacco shops in the town were targeted by a man armed with a gun and wearing a surgical mask. The first robbery netted around €500, the second—during which a shot was fired in the air, later found to be a blank—over €800.

During the investigation at the scene, a lost hubcap from the getaway car and the spent shell casing were found. In the following months, investigators gathered further evidence, culminating in a July search that proved decisive: at the suspect's home, they found clothing consistent with that worn by the robber, a gray Opel Astra coupé without license plates, and an air rifle.

The 54-year-old is now in Uta prison.
