Controversy and discontent in Alghero due to the missed fireworks show.

It is certainly not the first mid-August in the city's history that sees the barrels canceled (for safety reasons, not to disturb the animals and not to create confusion in the busiest days of the tourist season), but this time thousands have fallen into the misunderstanding : since the Administration had not expressed itself in this regard, many took it for granted that the fireworks had to take place , as per tradition. Thus, in the port area and along the ramparts, ancient residents and tourists took their seats to admire the barrels which, obviously, never exploded in the sky .

"There are thousands of people who have come from many places in Sardinia waiting for the fireworks with their noses turned up", writes the Alghero entrepreneur Enrico Daga on his Facebook page. “The fact that people even imagine them, since they haven't been promoted, obviously, anywhere, makes you think, a lot. And whoever governs must know how to reflect. I'll spare you the comments."

Tourism councilor Alessandro Cocco believes that the episode is significant and deserves consideration. «The fires weren't planned and they weren't promoted, but there were those who expected them. We are already working for San Michele and New Year's Eve - he explains - also to include innovative shows» concludes Cocco, without revealing the details.
