Eleven years after the tragic death of Antonello Mereu , all that remains is pain . The hoarse voices of his parents, Filomena Patteri and Gianni Mereu, convey the weariness of those who have never given up, despite indifference, silence, and closed investigations. In an open letter, they plead: "Whoever knows the truth, speak out."

THE STORY – A closed case, but the truth remains. On March 12, 2014, Antonello Mereu, 24, a worker from Dorgali, was found dying in a pool of blood in a marble quarry in Orosei. He died the next day in hospital in Nuoro . It was said to be a tragic accident: a metal rod attached to a diamond wire struck him in the back of the head . But no one saw anything. Then, that reconstruction fell apart. According to some expert reports and the court, which was proceeding for manslaughter, it was no longer an accident, but a deliberate crime : a sharp object struck him from behind, while someone was holding him down on the ground.

THE APPEAL – The parents, however, do not accept this interpretation and call the charge change "shameful." For them, Antonello had no enemies. "No one had any reason," they write. "You cannot die like this, without anyone taking responsibility. No truth, no justice, only silence. Only dismissals. It is a failure for the Prosecutor's Office, for the Court, for the community."

Many questions remain unanswered, and the family still has a truth to tell . Perhaps an accident, but not that: what really happened that morning between 5 and 6:30?
