The Tempio Pausania Public Prosecutor's Office is investigating the taser used by the Carabinieri to stop Gianpaolo Demartis in Olbia while he was attacking residents of the Santa Mariedda neighborhood. The 57-year-old , clearly intoxicated, later died of cardiac arrest in the ambulance taking him to the hospital .
"The Taser ," explains Marco Manca, the lawyer representing the victim's family, " has been seized and investigations will be carried out into its use that evening ."
However, it remains unclear – as the lawyer further clarified – "the presence of some bloodstains on the asphalt near Gianpaolo ." These bloodstains could belong to the soldier who was injured while trying to stop Demartis, or to Demartis himself .
Not only that. Among the issues to be clarified and which the autopsy , scheduled for Thursday , may provide answers, is the deep head wound Demartis had when his family reached him : was it the result of a fall? Or was it struck by an object? And if the latter hypothesis is true, when did it happen? Before or during the incident under investigation?
There are many questions that the investigation by the Tempio Prosecutor's Office will have to answer .
