No one felt like staying home. At Alessandro Zizzaro's funeral on Sunday afternoon, the entire town of Villasimius was there. The community stood by the family of the 19-year-old victim of the tragic car accident on Via Matteotti.

A moved crowd, thousands of tears, the white balloons of friends, and then the endless prayer procession to the cemetery, flooded with flowers during the burial. The memory of this young, vibrant man, a soccer referee and athlete, but also a model student at the Cagliari National Boarding School, where he was supposed to graduate this year, is poignant.

Meanwhile, the Carabinieri are continuing their investigations to reconstruct the exact dynamics of the accident that cost the young man his life.

Alessandro was riding his scooter: near Via Matteotti, he collided with a Fiat Seicento carrying four other young people who suffered minor injuries.

Following the tragedy, Mayor Luca Dessì ordered the suspension of all New Year's Eve events until January 6th, as a sign of mourning.
