Saman Abbas' mother arrested: she was hiding in a village in Pakistan

Saman Abbas' mother, Nazia Shaheen, 51, was arrested in Pakistan.

In December, the woman was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Assize Court of Reggio Emilia for the murder of her daughter, who disappeared from Novellara (Reggio Emilia) in 2021 and whose body was found buried in November 2022.

Nazia Shaheen had been on the run since 2021: after the crime she had in fact returned to her homeland together with her husband.

An international arrest warrant was pending against her - who cannot be ruled out as having been the perpetrator of the crime. From what we understand, she was found in a village on the border with Kashmir , as part of the investigation and research activities of Interpol in tandem with the Pakistani Federal Police.

The girl's father, Shabbar Abbas, was also sentenced to life imprisonment for Saman's murder, while her uncle Danish Hasnain was given 14 years. However, cousins Ikram Ijaz and Nomanhulaq Nomanhulaq were acquitted

According to the magistrates who conducted the investigation, Saman was killed for "rebellion" against the rules imposed by her family and for having started a relationship with a young man she met on Tik Tok.
