Only eight cases of myocarditis out of 7,141,428 doses administered to children between 5 and 11 years.
The data on the safety of anti-Covid 19 vaccines in children comes from the meeting of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (Acip) of the American CDC.
Overall, the report reported mild symptoms (low-grade fever, headache, nausea or vomiting), which occur in most cases on the day of vaccination and more often after the second dose.
Less than one in 10 children have ailments such that they do not have to go to school the following day, and about 1% have had to see their doctor.
Data arriving right now that the pediatric vaccination campaign in Italy has just begun. The first doses administered yesterday are 15 thousand, 15,063 to be precise out of a total audience of 3,656,069, as can be seen from the data published on the government website. The children who contracted Covid and recovered are 104,135.
Meanwhile, the undersecretary for health Andrea Costa, on Sky-Tg24 affirms that "it is reasonable to think that in March-April there may also be a vaccine for the under 5s".
"Science - Costa observes - goes on every day, it is reasonable that in the spring there will be evidence that will create sufficient conditions for regulatory bodies to express themselves. We will then know if there will be a vaccine available also in that age group. Obviously we await with confidence because it would mean having one more tool to fight this pandemic ”.
The undersecretary denies the rumors of further measures in view of the holidays, such as the vaccinated swab for access to certain activities: "It is not a topic on the ministry's table, the super Green pass is a sufficient protection tool, the swab for the vaccinated would become difficult to manage and implement ".
On the treatment front, good news comes for Pfizer's anti-Covid pill: “It will probably be available in Italy from January, a drug that seems very useful. Ema has given the green light, in early January we will most likely have it in Italy ”, said Guido Rasi, consultant to Commissioner Figliuolo and former Ema executive director.
