Twenty million to renovate the Regional Council building on Via Roma: all sea-facing entrances, photovoltaic panels on the roof, a library moved to the Manifattura, and a new conference room.

These are some of the interventions planned from September in the building inaugurated in December 1988. A portion of the available surplus identified in the 2025 financial statement will be used for the construction sites.

"Almost 40 years have passed," said Regional Council President Piero Comandini, "from energy independence to the complete removal of architectural barriers."

The first measure involves the allocation of €17,750,000 to complete the safety, fire prevention, structural, and functional upgrades of the building complex. "The project responds to the need to ensure the full functionality and upgrading of the building where the legislative, administrative, and institutional activities of the Regional Assembly are conducted," Comandini emphasized. "It is an investment of clear public interest, aimed at enhancing the safety of workers, councilors, visitors, and all those who access the institutional headquarters, but also at enhancing the decorum and functionality of the spaces where institutional activities are conducted. The Regional Council building will open onto Via Roma. And it will be increasingly open to the public: over the last two years, visits from young people and school groups have increased."

The second project includes the allocation of another €3.1 million for the construction of the future council library in the spaces located in the former Manifattura Tabacchi complex in Cagliari. This project will create a modern documentary and cultural center dedicated to the collection, preservation, cataloging, and access to the Regional Council's bibliographic, archival, and documentary heritage. "We want," Comandini emphasized, "a library truly accessible to all."
