Just when it seemed all over, Cagliari found a last-minute comeback and earned a crucial point in their relegation battle in Verona. The match at the Bentegodi Stadium finished 2-2, with Felici's 92nd-minute equalizer following Idrissi's goal.

The match began with a collision between Núñez and Borrelli, who remained on the ground in pain. After two minutes of treatment, play resumed, and the Cagliari center forward had the first chance: a pass forward, he beat Valentini to the ball, and with his left foot, he grazed the top corner with a fine finish that Montipò could have done little to save. The Rossoblu returned in the 13th minute, when Gaetano controlled the ball and, with a diagonal shot from the center-right, was saved by the goalkeeper for a corner: providential, because otherwise the ball would have ended up in the net.

Núñez couldn't cope with a shoulder problem, and in the 16th minute he was replaced by Bella-Kotchap in the first substitution of the match. But Verona, after struggling for over twenty minutes, scored with their first move: Giovane's free kick from the right was headed around by Gagliardini, who deceived Caprile and sent the ball into the bottom corner . It was 1-0 in the 23rd minute. Cagliari didn't have a great response, and in fact almost doubled their lead in the 34th minute: a rebound freed Serdar on the left, whose left-footed shot was already a miracle, and Caprile sent it against the crossbar. The miracle became a double when the goalkeeper (Verona native) made the save to keep out Orban's header.

After a difficult first-half midfield, Cagliari came back in the 39th minute, with Gaetano's free kick from about 25 meters going just over . Montipò was busy in the 43rd minute, deflecting a Palestra cross, but the assistant referee then signaled that the ball had gone out of play. At the start of four minutes of injury time, Orban broke away on the right and crossed, but Palestra did well to cover.

The restart saw Bernede replace Akpa Akpro (the only yellow card) for Verona, and Adopo replace debutant Liteta for Cagliari. Hellas came close to making it 2-0 in the 55th minute: first, Orban's shot was blocked by Zé Pedro, then Giovane's cross was saved by Caprile, who produced another miracle. But the Gialloblu's 2-0 lead was in the air and arrived in the 59th minute. Bernede escaped two opponents on the right and played it to Giovane, whose low cross was deflected by Orban into the center of the box . Cagliari were in dire straits and unable to stop the fine, high-speed play that made it 2-0.

Pisacane realized that without a shakeup, the situation was compromised. Immediately after the second goal, Pavoletti came on for Folorunsho and Luvumbo for Gaetano. But this only resulted in two yellow cards, for Obert and the number 30 himself. Indeed, in the 68th minute, Caprile once again blocked a deflection in the box by Valentini following Giovane's free kick. The Rossoblu, however, reopened the game in the 77th minute, with Obert passing the ball through to Idrissi, who was able to run into the box on the left and beat Montipò with a powerful left-footed shot . It was his first goal in Serie A and for Cagliari.

Felici came on for Palestra to attack, while Verona swapped their two strikers, Giovane and Orban, for Sarr and Harroui. Esposito was supposed to come on with the winger, but instead remained on the bench and wasn't even included in the final substitution. Mazzitelli replaced Prati in the 86th minute. Six minutes of injury time were played, and in the second minute Felici swapped with Pavoletti and ran past two opponents (Fallou and Nelsson) before scoring with his right foot to make it 2-2 . A beautiful move, resulting in a crucial goal that tied the game.
