Shmuel Peleg, the maternal grandfather of little Eitan Biran, the only survivor of the Mottarone massacre and brought back to Israel by him, speaks for the first time on Israeli television despite the child having been entrusted to his father's family.

"On the plane Eitan never stopped asking when we would arrive and shouted: 'let's fly to Israel, let's fly to Israel", he told N12 TV. On the fact that in our country there is talk of kidnapping "I think Eitan will grow up one day and say grandfather saved me," he said.

As for how he managed to implement the plan, given that the Pavia judge had established a ban on expatriation for the child and also the return of his Israeli passport: "I received a legal opinion and went through the border with regular validation of passports ", is his version.

THE INVESTIGATIONS - Meanwhile, the investigators of the Flying Squad in Pavia are investigating: not only Shmuel, but also his ex-wife, grandmother Etty, are accused of kidnapping. The authorities try to shed light on the months spent in Italy by his grandfather, between Milan and Pavia, his contacts, his acquaintances.

And the journey last Saturday, when he left the home of his paternal uncles, after taking the little one for the visit granted, to arrive by car at Lugano airport and fly to Israel on a chartered plane. Telephone records, cameras, documents, letters rogatory are studied in Switzerland, to reconstruct the "chain" of complicity and the alleged links of Shmuel, a former soldier, also with environments close to the Israeli secret services.

As to why he did so, in addition to the apparent love for the child, there are hidden reasons of religious education and economic reasons linked to the compensation in the proceedings on the disaster and inheritance.

THE UNCIES IN ISRAEL - Meanwhile, his paternal uncles are organizing the trip to Israel to bring him back to Italy. As far as we know, they have already bought the tickets but will wait for the end of Yom Kippur, a Jewish celebration that began yesterday at sunset and which lasts about 25 hours.

The lawyers of aunt Aya, appointed guardian by the Court of Turin and with a decision confirmed by the one from Pavia, are working to support the petition advanced to the Tel Aviv Court asking for the child's immediate return to Italy. The 1980 Hague Convention has already been activated in Israel, which envisages ensuring the return of the minor "to the foster home and the country of residence" in cases of international abduction. The hearing is set for 29 September.
