The Church of the Holy Family in Gaza was hit by an Israeli raid: there are reportedly three dead, and the parish priest, Father Gabriel Romanelli, was also slightly wounded in the leg .

There were also about ten injured, some in serious condition. Two of the victims were Saad Issa Kostandi Salameh, 60, a parish doorman, and Foumia Issa Latif Ayyad, an 84-year-old woman who was in a Caritas tent serving as a psychological support center for displaced and Palestinian residents at the time of the attack . A third person later died in hospital.

Israel justified itself by claiming that it was a "misspelling."

The Italian government condemned the incident: "The Israeli raids on Gaza also hit the Church of the Holy Family. The attacks against the civilian population that Israel has been carrying out for months are unacceptable . No military action can justify such an attitude," declared Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni .

For Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, "the Israeli army's attacks against the civilian population in Gaza are no longer acceptable. This morning's raid also hit the Church of the Holy Family in Gaza, a grave act against a Christian place of worship. My deepest sympathy goes to Father Romanelli , who was injured during the raid. It's time to stop and find peace."
