Dozens are missing after a landslide occurred in a jade mine. In the imminence of the collapse, the lifeless body of a worker was immediately recovered, and this morning the second.

The tragedy took place in a lake in the north of the country, at the site of Hpakant.

The rescuers are at work but there is little hope of finding the workers who were stranded alive, which from an initial assessment would be over 70. There are also more than twenty injured already hospitalized.

In Burma dozens of miners die every year working in dangerous conditions in the jade quarries, they come mainly from disadvantaged ethnic communities and rarely have regular contracts.
