The United States will defendTaiwan from any aggression from China.

American President Joe Biden said this during a debate held in Baltimore, broadcast by CNN.

"The US - he explained - has made a sacred commitment as regards the defense of NATO allies in Canada and Europe and the same goes for Japan, South Korea and Taiwan".

"I don't want a cold war with China", he added, "I have talked and spent more time with Xi Jinping than any other leader in the world. But I want Beijing to understand that we will not step back and change any of our points of view. ".

Biden, speaking of the US military as the "most powerful in history", then assured that he was not worried about a possible international military conflict with China, but rather about an escalation and argued that one must "worry" if the giant Asia or other countries such as Russia will be involved in "activities that put them in a position where they could make a serious mistake".

In recent days, the tension between China and Taiwan has skyrocketed, with Beijing sending dozens of warplanes flying over the skies of the island. The maneuvers began on October 1, a national holiday, which commemorates the founding of the People's Republic: on the anniversary day, Xi Jinping reiterated that the "reunification" of Taiwan with China "will take place".

President Tsai Ing-wen responded to the threats, stating that Taiwan will not bow to Chinese pressure and defending Taipei's free and democratic model.
