Like little Rayan , who died less than two weeks ago in Morocco. Like Alfredino Rampi, who lost his life 41 years ago in Italy. In the hope that this time the ending will be different.

Another child fell into a well. And even in Afghanistan, a country where life doesn't matter and babies are sold for a few hundred dollars by mothers who don't know how to feed their families, the entire village of Shokak, in the province of Zabul, has mobilized to save little Haidar, nine years old, trapped 10 meters deep.

The child fell two days ago and got stuck 10 meters from the surface in a 25-meter deep pit: he is able to move his arms and upper body, as seen in a video shot by rescuers who lowered a camera secured to a rope.

"Are you okay my son? Talk to me and don't cry, we are working to get you out", the father says to the baby in the video. "Okay, I'll keep talking," Haidar replies.

The people of Shokak and the officials of the new Taliban administration have relaunched the images by posting them on social networks, also a way of being close to the family for those who cannot physically lend a hand.

Rescuers dig non-stop. The goal is to create a sort of tunnel that should cross diagonally the point where the child is trapped, with a technique similar to that practiced in Morocco to bring Rayan back to the surface.

"There is a team with an ambulance, oxygen and other necessary equipment. The baby is fine and occasionally asks for water and food," tweeted Abdullah Azzam, secretary of Deputy Prime Minister Abdulghani Barada. Also Azzam, in another tweet, states that "the distance to reach Haidar is very short, and the rescuers say they can hear the baby's cries. The hope is that he can be saved soon".
