After so much anger and worry ( THE CASE ) there is finally a happy ending. Zeddiani's sixteen-year-old suffering from epileptic encephalopathy, a rare disease that forces him to breathe thanks to a tracheotomy, is no longer without medical assistance. Doctor Demetrio Del Rio will take care of him voluntarily and free of charge. This until a place becomes available with another GP .

But not only that. The young person will be taken care of by an Ascot doctor who will make home visits, guaranteeing him the assistance he needs and which will allow the Integrated Home Care (Adi) service to be activated .

"Finally we are no longer alone," says mother Tamara . "My son is not a patient like many others, he could not be left at the mercy of the waves."

For Zeddiani's family, the nightmare began last December 4th when the young man turned sixteen, the age that requires the transition from pediatrician to general practitioner. Initially, however, no doctor was found for him. And the health management had announced that, despite his health conditions, he had to turn to Ascot. The boy's mother, who had already explained to the ASL the risk the boy was running, at that point decided to report the incident in the pages of our newspaper. And after 48 hours, the good news arrived. " After reading our story, Dr. Demetrio Del Rio contacted me to tell me that he would take care of my son on a completely voluntary basis," says mother Tamara. "A godsend."

The general director of the ASL 5 of Oristano Angelo Serusi: «We are working, and not just today, to overcome all those obstacles and situations that arise from the shortage of family doctors, of which this case is evidence» .

"To meet the needs of all patients who, like Zeddiani's, require home care but do not have a family doctor," says Marina Cossu , director of the Integrated Home Care Service, "the Company is formalizing a real experimental Adi-Ascot project that can allow for rapid, systematic and structured care of these cases."

"It is essentially an integration between the Ascot doctor and the Adi service: the former will carry out home visits and services and the latter will guarantee nursing care and other services provided by the home care service - explains the director of the Hospital-Territory Integration Service Marilena Muggianu - Once fully operational, it will be possible to take charge of around a hundred patients".
