In Macomer a tree collapsed in front of the schools , while in Porto Torres the wind caused roofs and even a pier to collapse . Branches and trees also fell in La Maddalena and other towns in Gallura.
The gusts also caused some problems at Alghero airport, with a flight being diverted to Cagliari .
Hundreds of phone calls were made to 115 ( 90 in Sassari and the province alone ) and to the police to report damage, dangerous trees and other risky situations that needed to be made safe.
