A wave of funding from the Region for the city's sports facilities. The Municipality has received approximately €10 million through the regional call for proposals for metropolitan cities and municipalities with over 100,000 inhabitants . One figure stands out in the Authority's resolution published two days ago: €3.303 million for the redevelopment of the former CONI gyms on Via Coradduzza and Via Prati, closed for over a decade . Nearly €2 million will go toward the renovation of the Vanni Sanna stadium, where Torres plays, and €1.189 million for the Ippodromo .
A significant funding round is also earmarked for the completion of the sports hall on Via Kennedy, a project funded by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), which will receive €1.651 million, while nearly € 800,000 will be earmarked for the functional upgrades of the Palaserradimigni sports center . Another 10 grants will go toward the maintenance of swimming pools and gyms, soccer fields in the city and the surrounding suburbs, and the baseball facility.
But also the renovation of the Palasantoru and the construction of an 11-a-side pitch in Caniga . In recent months, both the Councilor for Public Works, Salvatore Sanna, and the Councilor for Education, Youth, and Sports Policies, Nicoletta Puggioni, have repeatedly reported on participation in the tender and on discussions, particularly to resolve the long stalemate regarding the former CONI gyms.
