A small graveyard of medical equipment just steps from the hospital. This is the scene that unfolded yesterday morning in the dirt area behind the Corpo Dea del San Martino hospital in Oristano, where dozens of medical devices were piled up for disposal.

The two stacks contain wheelchairs, hospital beds, patient lifts, bedside tables, trolleys, and other aids used in the departments. The equipment was stored outdoors, in an area adjacent to the healthcare facility, attracting the attention of residents and users who wondered what its intended purpose was.

The Oristano Local Health Authority (ASL) provided an explanation, clarifying the nature of the material: "It is out-of-use material, no longer usable in the hospital and destined for disposal," the health authority stated.

The clarification also addresses the possibility that the equipment could be recovered by local associations or organizations. The Local Health Authority (ASL) emphasizes that the equipment cannot be donated, precisely because it is no longer suitable for use and is already excluded from the hospital's functional assets.

The equipment piled up behind the DEA is therefore awaiting the procedures required for its definitive decommissioning and subsequent disposal.
