Sassari mourns the death of Ivana Farina , a member of the Italian Red Cross Committee. The 71-year-old Sassari native is described by the volunteer organization as an "icon." A former inspector for the Committee, regional coordinator, and emergency medical service representative, she is remembered by those who knew her as "tireless and always ready to help those most in need." A selfless person to the very end, having donated her organs, a gesture that helped save lives .

Hundreds of people, including the mayor of Sassari, Giuseppe Mascia, have been flocking to the mortuary since this morning to thank Ivana and pay their respects.
The funeral will be held tomorrow at St. Nicholas Cathedral.
