It's been a challenging day for public transportation in the Cagliari area, with disruptions reported on both the light rail line operated by ARST and the CTM bus lines. These two situations are distinct, but both are linked to the challenging conditions caused by the record-breaking heat.

MetroCagliari service is temporarily suspended on all lines due to technical problems related to the scorching weather. "With temperatures above 40-41 degrees, the air conditioning systems are not effective," explains Carlo Poledrini, general manager of Arst , "we have to wait for temperatures to drop to avoid risks to the health of passengers and staff."

The disruption is causing inconvenience to passengers, especially those who need to make connections or get to work. "It's happened before, with disruptions to connections. Why don't they provide replacement buses? " Passengers stranded at metro stops complain. Some have asked their families for help getting home.
