Mayor Vincenzo Ligios has decided to confirm his resignation as mayor of Villanova Monteleone. The decision had been made following a tear in the majority group "VillaNuova", with the departure of three councilors and the creation of a new council group.

"In these two and a half years I have devoted myself body and soul to the administration of my country, neglecting family, loved ones, personal interests, career and work as a freelancer - declared Ligios -. I found a devastated municipality and, with the help of some, I tried to put it back on track, with the commitment and perseverance of someone convinced they were doing good for their country. For some months now, the serenity necessary to lead the complex and articulated machinery of the Municipality has been lacking, and has definitively dissolved following the creation of a group outside of our majority, which has led us in fact to become a minority".

«I don't have much to say except to congratulate the Commissioner who will take over from me and the administration that will be elected after him - concludes Ligios -. I am leaving a municipality better than how I found it: 7 hires in the staff plan, 5 million public works, but first of all the project of the Borghi tender, a territorial and entrepreneurial development program that has no precedents in the history of Villanova, and which, trust me, will bring a lot to our country. Thanks to all Villanovesi for their trust, and sorry if I couldn't prevent her from being betrayed. The work of a mayor depends on his dignity and his honor, two things that I am not willing to lose for anything in the world».
